Email setup  en

I have been at this email set up all day and can´t seem to understand what information I need to enter into the fields. I have keyed in numerous information, went to my host to look at the PHP information, read the help files (which doesn´t seem to give me much information about the fields and what information you need to key in.

Website X5 seems like a good software but there are certain things which "us" dummies can´t figure out.

I have gone into step 4 "Advanced Settings" then into "Acces Management". Double clicked on admin and keyed in the information. Now, the email information needs to be from where my web site is or can I use Gmail or hotmail?

...sorry, your attachement is not an email setup; if you need to complete an email page my attachement show what does it means; you can do that with an email object...(if I understood your question)

Where do I find this form? That is the email set-up form? For the life of me I can find it and all I get is the email form object where I pick the fields "Name", "Email" and "Comments" and once saved it creates a form.

...it's  very simple; between the objects to build the pages (text, gallery, image, etc...) you can find email object, fill every field required, test and if you have problem, post again...

Charles, after creating your form click on the send tab exactly as your last screen shot shows.  Simply fill in that form and replace my email address with yours (see attachment) and when your website is online it should just work.

Ok. Thanks heaps for all your help. Now the other problem I have since yesterday is the export is working okay but no changes are being made on the internet. I have posted this problem already and have had some people helping me but no good news.

The email isn´t going through either.

Have been in touch with my Host and asked them to check all FTP connections etc. Maybe something wrong there. Everything was working fine until yesterday.

Charles, I do not use the ftp upload feature in WebsiteX5.  I have created a directory called web and I export website to disk (into the web directory), then I use Filezilla (free) to upload my site.  Mostly this is because old habits die hard, but it gives me a number of options (like storing other files on the site).

You should be able to see what is happening with your upload quite easily, and also see what is already in your public_html directory.

I am in my late 60's and this is actually a hobby, I have tried to learn a number of things when it comes to internet publishing but my tolerance and patience is not what it used to be. "LOL" .  I can ask you many questions which I don't know answers too but that would mean I would be posting constantly on here.

All I wanted was something simple - drag and drop and finally on the internet.

Filezilla, don't I need a host and have the ftp information keyed into Filezilla?

Charles - I am the same age :-(

Yes you do need a host, but I assume you must have one in order to find your site on the web.

If you wish to use filezilla, the information you enter is the same as entered into WX5, after you fill in the blanks (see attachment), click on connect.  If you have the details correct you will connect to your domain. It is just like Windows Explorer. You should go to where your website was exported to locally in the left hand pane, in the right side pane you normally navigate to public_html.

Then it is just a matter to drag and drop, although to upload a whole site I normally highlight all files in the web folder (ctrl A does this nicely), then right click and select upload.

Sorry if I have made the situation more confusing.

You have been helpful and so has Gabriele. Thank you for your patience and support. I will give it a go and see how things pan out from there. If there is still problems, I think it is best for me to look at Webhosting that does the whole thing. Again I appriciate your help.

Charles - If problems persist, please post again.  I have used a number of online webhosts (eg weebly) where you create your site from a number of templates. They work but you will quickly run up against brick walls when you want to do something that is simple in wx5 but impossible or expensive in the online site.

If you wish to advise your webhost details I am happy to provide specific setup instructions if that might help - you will see my email address in the email form object attachment a few posts back if you wish to communicate outside of the public glare :-)
