Max size of images to avoid "Image Generation Error" 
Author: Barry B.I have seen a lot of talk that says that to avoid "Image Generation Errors" you should keep the image sizes under 500Kbytes. This seems sort of arbitrary so I would like to ask someone at Incomedia, what the max size limit is for images and is it a vertical pixel x horizontal pixel dimension limit or is it a kbyte limit?.
The software engineers who wrote the program generate the "Image Genration Error" message based on some criteria when the Webite X5 12 Pro program receives an image that is out of bounds with the size they have set as the limit. It would be nice to know that limit so you could adhere to it and avoid this issue.
It would also be good to have the program detect the over the size limit of images when they are placed into Image or Shopping Cart Objects so that you don't have to do a preview to look at the webpage to see if there is a problem. This would move the error checking one step earlier and make the process more efficient.

Hi Barry, I am an user like you, but the message you seen probablly it's refer to somethink different; the only trouble for the image with big size, in my opinion, it's too long time to show it during upload...

Yes image load time can be a problem if the image is large but the problem I get is I can't even get the image to show up because I get the "Image Generation Error" message. I am experimenting with different image file formats (JPG, GIF and PNG) to see if Website X5 works with one better than the others. So far I have not see any difference in the program generating any less "Image Generation Errors".
One thing that I do notice though is that when I do a preview and get "Image Generation Errors" and go back and reduce the size of the images with the errors and then do another preview, then I get other images that previously displayed correctly now show "Image Generation Errors". It is sort of frustratiing because the problem is sort of a moving target because you fix one and then others show up.
I have also seen posts where the talk about using CTRL+Preview instead of just preview. I looked up in the PDF users manual and there is no mention of CTRL+Preview and what it does. Because it takes longer to do the preview when I do the CTRL+Preview, I suspect it is reloading all the images from scratch and thus requiring more time to do so.
I'm hoping for some direction from Incomedia on the limits on image size that I talked about in my original post...

Hello Barry,
Check the DPI of the images you are using and try to use as example 72 as value.
If the program you are using has the option to optimize the images for the web try to use it so the program will not need to readapt all images to use them.
The issue generally happens if the image cannot be longer accessed or you have many images and these needs all to be adapted by the program. If it needs to handle many images and pages then the program will need more resources and it can happen windows is not having enough free resources which then generates the error.

Yes it does seem to have something to do with size.
But It seems to work OK upto 2Mb but more then this error occurs.
Maybe the developers can have a look and advise.

If you use many images which are big the program needs to optimize these and in this case it's better to reduce them before the usage. In this way you will also have a smaller project file. About the size check also the DPI of the images and if this vaule is high.
