X5v13 problems

I have been working on a new project but after installing an update today the preview function no longer works (I just get a blank page with the X5 animated logo and the message 'not responding') - the project wasn't going well, only a couple of pages in, so I have dumped it.
I then switched to the existing version of the website and now this will not open - I get the error message 'Error in XML document (0,0).'
The project file for our other website does open and the preview funtion works.
Help!!

It looks like the project is damaged, if you have a made a backup copy with export project in step 5 then go back to the previous version, else try the automatic backup function of x5 it is explained here:

it works also in v12 and v13 evo.

I am back at my desk today and yes I have managed to restore the project - thank you.
Have you any idea why the preview window stopped working on my new file?
