Full Calendar Object Not Displaying Text  en

It displays green bars where the events are but no text. The ICS file is a "save as" from MS Outlook 365. The page is set to PHP. I've tried everything from previous posts and everything I can think of. No text.

Hello Barry

If You don't want a real calendar but only the "full calendar" and You can't see data in it, then try to find out where the problem is. If You can't either see data when You load the ics file in e.g. the Google calendar, it can be that there are no data in the file. When You export from e.g. Outlook, You have to specify what date interval You want to export - if You don't specify something, You will probably get nothing.
Both the Luxcal and the Google calendar can import ics files(s) - but here You can edit the events if You give access to it.

The easiest way to sneak in to the problem could be that You "get" ( sign up to ) the google calendar. If You can load data in this from Your ics-file, then the problem is in the Website X5-"full"-calendar. If You can't  see data in the google-calendar, then the problem is in Your ics-file.

Regarding calendars - You could see this post : https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/152343

Kind regards

John S.

I don't know what you mean by a "real calendar." I bought the X5 "Full Calendar" object because I expected it to be editable like a Google calendar. Whoever wrote the functional spec for it obviously didn't have much budget to work with. In any case, I'm not going to get my money back so I'd might as find a way to make the thing work like it's supposed to.

There's nothing wrong with the ICS file. You can open one in a text editor to check the data. Here's the header and the first event from my file:

By a "real calendar" I mean a calendar I can use.

I also bought the "full calendar" and believed I could use it. I couldn't. It can for example not handle recurring events !!

And You can't create events in it - it is just a viewer.

I then found an amazing calendar that was even free. It has a lot of functionality, is free, easy to install and easy to integrate in Website X5. And there is a very good support for it.

You should take a look at it : http://www.luxsoft.eu/index.php?pge=home

And here You can see how to integrate it : http://www.calendarforum.dk/integrating-iframe-x5.html

This is not to sell You anything as it is free - it is just to show You a way to a calendar. You could also use the Google-calendar. It is also free and easy to integrate, but it is far from being as good as the LuxCal calendar.

Kind regards

Hello Barry,

To show the text in the green bar you need to add the text you want ot appear in it in the description field of the program used to generate the ICS file.

Your code doesn't contains the description field.

As example if you use:

BEGIN:VCALENDAR
PRODID:-//Microsoft Corporation//Outlook 16.0 MIMEDIR//EN
VERSION:2.0
METHOD:PUBLISH
X-CALSTART:20170503T000000
X-CALEND:20171211T000000
X-WR-RELCALID:{0000002E-B574-DDAF-A0A9-A3B3CFC4CC7B}
X-WR-CALNAME:Tom Cheetham Club
BEGIN:VEVENT
CLASS:PUBLIC
CREATED:20170516T182933Z
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20170504
DTSTAMP:20170516T191511Z
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20170503
LAST-MODIFIED:20170516T182933Z
DESCRIPTION:description
PRIORITY:5
SEQUENCE:0
SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:CLOSED
TRANSP:TRANSPARENT
UID:040000008200E00074C5B7101A82E0080000000070CE19DC50CED201000000000000000
    010000000886E5A1E206941498F6F084495CAE9DF
X-MICROSOFT-CDO-BUSYSTATUS:FREE
X-MICROSOFT-CDO-IMPORTANCE:1
X-MICROSOFT-DISALLOW-COUNTER:FALSE
X-MS-OLK-AUTOSTARTCHECK:FALSE
X-MS-OLK-CONFTYPE:0
END:VEVENT

Then it will appear as text "description" which is added in

DESCRIPTION:description

Many thanks!

John, thanks for the suggestion. LuxCal looks great. Have you tried converting a Google calendar to LuxCal?

Claudio, the missing DESCRIPTION field is indeed the problem. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to make Outlook 365 include them. I tried an Outlook Calendar to ICS converter and it didn't include DESCRIPTION either.
