New object - ACCORDION  en

Author: John S.

I have an idea for a new object - an accordion.

I have made an example here : http://www.energifremtiden.dk/c4d/accordion-3---copy.html

In the example I use the accordion together with an image-mapping "object", but the accordion could be stand-alone.

This post should be seen in connection with my other post : https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/176622

I think that if there were made an image-mapping object and an accordion object, and these could be used together, it would be a powerful tool if you want to show information on a map or a floorplan or whatever.

Kind regards

John S.

I know the idea of an accordian is not new - but the idea is to have it in X5, as an object.

The accordion in my example is made in pure CSS and HTML - no extern jquery libs needed.

The code can be seen here : https://codepen.io/raubaca/pen/PZzpVe

There is an accordion that opens multiple and one that opens one.

The idea is not meant for me, but for the many users, that uses X5 because of its ability to produce nice sites, without having to know a lot of coding.

How and when INCOMEDIA will make such an object is entirely up to them, but they should know that other web-builder software ( as WYSIWYG Web Builder ) has this - either included or as optional objects.

It is just an idea so we all should have a better product.

Hi John,

thank you for your suggestion.

A new Object has been released in the Gallery section of the Optional Objects, which is quite similar to your proposal, I hope you will like it: https://market.websitex5.com/en/objects/live-preview/27287bb3-2988-41ba-a309-e03018b901

I will let you know if another solution will be available which is more similar to your example.

Thank you, I wish you a lovely day.

Hi Elisa,

Thank you for your information. The new accordion is, however, another picture gallery.

I think it would be extremely useful to have an accordion showing text paragraphs with links, pictures ... so that I could use them as a sitemap, too.

Thank you.

Hello Elisa

Hmmm - I think the object is NOT similar to my proposal. Not at all. Only that the name ACCORDION is used in both cases.

What I have made and what I suggest is what I think Theresia is looking for :

An accordion where you can have icons and images that can be clicked ( links ) and hovered - AND an important function - the text.

This is often used where you have some headlines, and you want to show the specification only when clicked - but of course you know that. Often used for a FAQ.

It should be an object like for example the slideshow, where you can have a number of items/lines.

Each line should represent an accordion line. For each item you should be able to specify images and texts and links and hover-actions.

As it can be made as pure HTML+CSS , it should be rather easy to have the object produce the code needed for the page. In fact there is not much code needed.

The same goes for the image mapping - also here, you could have a number of points to be mapped. Each line should hold the coordinates and other things. Also this is made purely with HTML+CSS, so I think it should be rather easy also here for the code-experts to have an object to produce the code.

John SS. BOM DE MAIS SUA SUGESTÃO, EU ESTOU USANDO O X13 PROFESSIONAL E JÁ UTILIZO ALGUMAS FUNÇÕES QUE ESTARÃO NA VERSÃO1 4 INCLUSIVE O ACCORDEON QUE NÃO É COMO O SEU MUITO DIFERENTE, SE A INCOMEDIA LANÇASSE UMA COMO O SEU AJUDARIA MUITO, PRINCIPALMENTE SITES DE HOTEIS.

This is picture accordeon, but it will be much more useful if you make a text accordion. I think, everyone will buy this object, me too.

Sometimes I think the programmers are playing with and creating things most of the people dont need while important functions not will be created. A pity.

Hi guys!

I'm sorry the lately released Object is not exactly wait you were waiting for. Our programmers always take into consideration your proposal, I know some are implemented before than others and this can be quite frustrating. This does not mean that the idea is not valid, on the contrary! This is often due to organization as well as development timing. As I mentioned, I will let you know if there will be any news about this issue.

Thank you everyone, have a nice day.
