Evolution 14 to slow and buggy 
Author: Fabio S.I am a happy version 13 costumer and a fan of website X5. I would not buy version 14 and shy away to invest any money into website X5. But 13 is a solid offline website creator (best on the market).
In my personal opinion version 14 is premature released. Why fix something that is not broken, that’s a Microsoft arrogance and syndrome. I would not expect that the website x5 people would follow that path.
So I will not criticize anymore but try to give some input in what my first day experience was, hoping that this will give them some inside what to fix (note: the below observations are with a new or converted project and on two different computers, all the same):
- Version 14 is occupying much more resources on the computer. Therefore the whole process becomes very sluggish. The browser takes at least 3 x longer to compose pages. This is not efficient and annoying. There are some settings in the preference that make it somehow faster but still it’s to slow and I don’t understand why that difference. It worked well in ver. 13.
- This version is prompt to crash and freeze. If you have a simple page it may work ok (still very sluggish). But for pages with blogs and pictures not recommended.
- Opening a new pop-up window for the templates is confusing, especially if we can’t resize the window. Previewing the template takes for ever. This change was not necessary, those not make the software better!
- Version 14 has now a separator in the text editing tool. Be aware that if you made a separation with the underscore it will not act as in ver. 13 if you have a responsive webpage.
- The separator will not change color as described, if you change the color in text setting page.
- I was looking forward to the blog settings. The main page now looks very confusing as separators are between the posts, the button for ‘Read all’ somehow lost on the side. Should have more freedom to organize the main page! Check ver. 13 it was nicer organized.
- The ‘Showbox’ now has more settings, great! If I click on a picture gallery I expect that the picture opens on a bigger frame, still showing the picture description. Not happening here. The picture has the same size as in the gallery, even if I try to zoom in with the zoom tool. The description is not there anymore. Check version 13 it worked well, again why fix it, if it works!
- Some people complained that while downloading to the server they got an error message ‘creation of folders’. This was discussed earlier in other posts for earlier version. If you download to a subfolder, you need to add a ‘/’ before the subfolder name now. Version 13 automatically added one, so if you convert from 13 to 14 you would expect that it would take that over too. Apparently not! What is more frustrating is that after several minutes, while waiting that the software makes up his mind. It just give you a ‘try later’ message and freezes.

Can you please tell me which windows version you are using?
Does the crashes you experience happen these with specific functions when used?
Some things changed in the new version of the program by trying to add more modern functionalities and styles.
About the export procedure issue the developers are already working on it.

No, the crashes are very unpredictable and not depending on functions used. The program becomes very unstable and the computer slower as longer you work with the program. Save the project will not make it faster or stable. The only way is to save the project and get out of the program and restart the computer. I found also that as soon the project has multiple pictures, it becomes very slow. I can compare this all with version 13 what was very fast and stable. The resources used by the program are not comparable, and I understand that you like to pack more functionality into a new version. But it is not practical that every time a new version is released that the user needs to get a new and more powerful computer. Do you agree?
I am getting used now with Version 14 but it is very annoying.
Please also check the Classic Slideshow. As soon you click on the ‘showbox’ the description of the pictures disappears. Also the picture is not full screen, it is the size of the gallery. In both of the cases in version 13 the description is there and the picture opens in a full screen size.
Good to hear that the developers are working on the export procedures.

Hi Claudio,
One other issue I have is the loading and saving of projects.
The same project in Version 13 has less than one minute to load; in version 14 however over 5 minutes.
Thats the same with saving: version 13 less than one minute to save; in version 14 however over 10 minutes.
Whats wrong with that picture?
It is exactelly the same project?

I have on one computer windows 10 Home and the other windows 10 pro.

Is there any way to turn the pictures 90 degrees if they are shown upside down?

About the loading speed please test if with the new update it loads faster.
For the image which appears turned how big is the image? Try to turn them with a graphic editor before adding them in the program. Windows shows them turned if the image is too big but the program shows them always in the original format.
About the description issue I notified it to the developers.

The load speed and save speed has not really improved, it is the same.
The resource issue is still the same. However the program is now more stable, its just terible slow.....as before.
In regards of the picture, would it not be easy to add a turn function to the picture add window?

Please, try the following for the speed of the program:
- Open the windows start menu or press the Windows Key + R and search for cmd.exe and run it with the rightclick option as administrator.
- In the Command Prompt enter following command:
lodctr /R
- Press enter
You can edit the images in the image object and there you will find the option to turn it but if you use a big image it is better to resize it before so the program doesn't needs to modify the image with every change to have a faster project.

hello i bought version 14 since 2 weeks i have the same problem as FABIO. very slow to load pages.Please how can i make to go back to the webx5 evolution 13 is better than that 14. i am realy disappointed if there is no solution i will ask for a refund.

Also, you are describing that I can edit the image in the "image object", where can I find "image project"? Sorry I am lost on this one.

Hello Claudio,
I did the "lodctr /R" and the loading did not improve. I saw a little improvement in the saving time, not really a "wow" moment, but a little improvement. It still hangs around with 99% done for ever untill it goes up to 100%.
Also, if I open a text box or any other componant and close it without any edits and try to save the project it will take again forever to save it. I guess, if there are no changes done to the project it should save it in no time, correct?
The preview is slow that I am fster uploading the project to the server and check it live on the internet. Thats not really the purpose of a preview????
Just a couple of opservations that maybe help you to point done the problem.
Claudio, I hope you guys get the speed back as we had in version 13. That would be great.
