Having previously selected a background image in Row Formats, if I then select a new image, X5 does not recognise the new image
I am stuck with the original one
I am forced to create a new web page to introduce the replacement image - very time consuming
In my attachment you can see I have changed the background to "transparent"
Unfortunately the Preview still shows the original image

You have set the transparancy on the first row in the picture.
you can also remove pictures by using your right mouse button on the image file.
Press ctrl preview that might help as well sometimes.

Right mouse button on the image file worked perfectly, thank you
I attach an image & how it looks when set to background (see snip)
Also a snip of my settings in "Row Formats"
How do I get all of the image displayed in the background
currently it only shows 27% of the image
Thanks
Bill
Make your page (text or object) bigger. Working with row formats you need to think big, but also in comparison to eachother.
remember x5 will not make your image smaller only bigger. so a very big picture means a big text / page/objects.
it is explained in more detail here:

It takes a little bit getting used to an playing around with height's

I understand the significance of height
However there is a bug - see attachment
In Row Format when I move from Effect "3 - Fixed Parallax" to "1 - Parallax", thenI lose most of the background image (I am left with only being able to see about 27% of the image)
How can I keep 100% of the bacground image?
If you want always 100% backup image set the picture as background picture in properties in step3. Don't use row formats.
Then use empty html object (also adjust height left below in html object) to create the spaces in your page.
Or use text with transparant background. Then you get the rolling effect as well.

I have not published these amendments on line yet (I am still having problems), but in my test site:
1. I deleted all Row Formats
2. In Step 3, Page Properties, Page Content Background for this Page only, Image File - see attachment "Page Background"
3. Then I added a text box between existing text boxes with Cplored Background - color transparent
Question:
How do "adjust height left below"
Problem:
a) I still only seen 27% of background image
b) No Parallax effect
adjust left below is for the html object.
a -> did you set option fit to screen? in step 3 properties graphic tab , repeat section?
with this you have no parallax effect but if you scroll the page it will flow over the page.
I shall make a test page for you.
your site looks better now, I think it looks like you want it?
here a very small and fast made guide:

I need to go now, a bit late for my appointment....

Thanks I understand how you have done this
However still no "proper" Parallax effect ie background does not move when I scroll down
Settings (attached) seem to give 100% of the background image :-)
But the background seems to shake as I scroll down (on a Windows PC - Itnernet Explorer 11)
Is that in preview or online? online it should scroll!
But then you are talking about the parallax effect, what I have done is not parallax.
Parallax works best for a small part of your page, and then another parallax effect on another part of the page.
A copmplete picture on the complete page is better in the way I did it.

I rather fancy having Parallax Effect - Website X5 is supposed to be able to do it
www.KingsHeathSquashClub.co.uk Home page - Has no parallax effect, the image just shakes around a bit as you scroll (online)
See attachment - I have set Options, Effect to 3 - Fixed Parallax
This is the only way I can get the background image (Background 3.jpg) at 100% size
If I chose Options, Effect 1 or 2 then only a fraction of the background image is displayed, which looks silly
How do I achieve full parallax effect AND display 100% of background image
Bill
Bill,
Sorry but I have givin you all the information I have/can.
Let me explain in another way;
the parallax effect is for a part of your site only, that's when it works best, and you get the most out of the effect.
To get the parallax effect to work you can't have the full picture on your site, because it needs to be scrollable (you need to have space that is not seen in the view) for the parallax effect to work (a part you won't see and will scroll up, and the text or other object scrolls down.) Together it's called parallax.
So if you want the full page to be shown the parallax effect is not usable, because you need also a scrollable part!
So if you want a 100% picture in the background use the effect like I have already descripted for you.
Else you need to set a part of the picture outside the viewable page, again this works best on part of your site, if you wish it can be on a bigger part but not with the picture shown 100%.
Remember also that you need a good picture for parallax, for full page and some part outside the view area you need a big picture, (read a lot of Mb's) people with handhelds, and no wifi or direct internet connection, will have a very slow opening page and might stop viewing. So it's better on that reason also to keep on a part of your site.
I hope this helps, else I am out of idea's to guide you.

Thanks Andre
www.KingsHeathSquashClub.co.uk Home page - the background image shakes around a bit as you scroll (online)
See attachment - I have set Options, Effect to 3 - Fixed Parallax
Anyway to stop the background image shake?

Have reverted to your suggestion of
Map, Page Properties eg Home, Graphic, Enable Custom settings
Image File = Background3.jpg, Repeat = 5 – Fit to window
Although not proper Parallax, the effect is quite pleasing
Happy with that, thanks
Bill
Yes, thats best in what you would like to achieve.
Thanks for the feedabck.
