Expanding Tables  en

On the website (www.websitex5.com/en/professional.html) it is displayed at the bottom of the referenced page, "This site is proudly made with WebSite X5." So my assumption is that the functionality of all page elements are within the user's grasp and do not require special coding or an advanced degree in computer science.

Having said that, on the pricing page (www.websitex5.com/en/pricing.php) about mid-way down there is a 3-column comparison of the three versions of WebSite X5. Two things happen and I want to know how it is done: (1) the logo, version, and price stop scrolling at a certain point and the table starts to slide underneath it; and (2) the table can be expanded by clicking on the "+" sign, which then reveals more content in additional rows.

Which of the three versions of WebSite X5 has this functionality and what are the functions called? I think the table sliding under the fixed content is part of the the Parallax function, but I'm not sure. More importantly, how is it done?

And since there is no horizontal accordion widget (that I'm aware of) for creating a compressed FAQ page, I'm thinking a table that can expand/contract is the way to go. But how is it done by the user within the software?

Thank you.

John, I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe the website designers for https://www.websitex5.com/en/pricing.php have used custom code to achieve both effects (ie not part of the WX5 package functionality).

You could achieve something extremely similar to what you ask in question 1 (table sliding under the fixed content) by creating a deep sticky menu with the menu object at the top, and then placing images below the menu object.

I do not know how to provide the + funtionality you describe in question 2. However, there are a number of posts on the helpcenter referring to accordian menus and I am sure they could be modified to reproduce this functionality (although this is beyond my capabilities)

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/177229

In short, none of the WX5 V14 products can do what you have requested out of the box

Your Evo version is all you need at this time (Pro does not have this magic code).

Hope someone cleverer than I will step forward if there is a better answer.

Esahc, thank you for the prompt reply. I'm happy to know this before I spent my money on the new version. I was almost deceived by the misleading claim that the site was made with WX5. Though admittedly it does not claim to be made entirely with WX5. So I guess the devil is in the details -- as usual.

I'll wait to see if anybody offers a different point of view. However, I'm afraid you are probably correct and I won't be upgrading after all.

John, there are many and significant reasons to upgrade to Pro and I can point you at a number of posts highlighting the advantages, sadly, the Website X5 website is not one.

Will somebody at Incomedia take a shot at answering my questions. Only one person in the forum has offered an educated guess so far.

Referencing the URLs in the original post provided above to the specific pages of the WX5 web site, please asnwer fully and honestly:

1) Is any version of WX5 capable of producing the noted effects right out of the box without additional coding?

2) If yes, how is it done?

Hello John L.,

This specific table in the pricing page is not available in WebSite X5 and has been done with custom HTML code while all other section are made with the functions in the program.

Many thanks!

Claudio,

Thank you for the direct and honest reply. Perhaps you should work in the Incomedia marketing department so the advertisements are written with more veracity. To make the statement in writing that the WebSite X5 web site is proudly made with WX5 on one page while inserting custom code on another page, without any disclosure of such custom code being used, borders on deception.

At this point I'm convinced I made the right choice saving my money and not buying the upgrade. I would have only been disappointed. Now I'll wait to see what the next release offers.

Hello John

We are many users that want an accordion object. I have made an idea post for an accordion-object  and for an image mapping-object.

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/177023

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/176622

I have made my own "Objects", but it would be nice to have it as real objects - easier to work with.

Now that INCOMEDIA has shown us, that they know what an accordion can be used for, then I hope they will share it with us users.

Kind regards

John S.
