Catalog Viewer and Audio Player does not seem to work in some browsers  en

Two features in particular.

Catalog Viewer

Works in Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Chromium

Does not work in Edge at all, and goes through the motion of working in "Brave" by turning pages, but displays nothing.

Audio Player

Works fine in firefox, and opera, Chrome, Brave, Edge

It does not play in Chromium

All browsers are clean installs except Firefox (which works fine anyway)

I am most concerned about Edge and Chromium and and to a lesser extent Brave

Thank you for any fix you can provide. Here is a page on the site which has both catalog viewer and player

I checked your page in edge, and eventually it did load (although it was VERY SLOW). Could you try clearing the cache in edge (crtl+F5) and see if it loads?

Does the audio player work in WX5 preview? (to the best of my knowledge this is based on chromium).

If you have the time, can you create a new project effectively having only one page (http://www.cantatedomino.org/cd/morceau-de-concert--guilmant-.php). Assuming it suffers the same problem you could then export it in step 5 to create an iwzip and attach it here for Incomedia to investigate. The performance of the viewer in edge is very poor and they should test this for themselves (in the unlikely event the iwzip is too large, you could transfer it via wetransfer.com and provide a link here).

As for chromium, I did a bit of searching and found a couple of reports similar to this "For Windows, it is better to use Google Chrome as Chromium doesn’t come as a stable release. And that applies for MacOS too"

Thank you for your swift reply.

No the audio player does not work in WX5 preview. But I continued to use it because after a test site upload it worked in firefox and Opera, so I considered it to be fine

Yes I did clear the cache before I posted. I wanted to remove every obsticle I could think of before posting here.

I notice that other users of Chromium have issues with MP3s and have come up with various theories on why it does not work.

I've reduced the site down to two pages, home page and the page you requested which maintains the integrity of the site, though the menus are now considerably smaller. Within the project there are still a couple more pages such as 404 and the manual index page I made. I hope that it is enough.

Thank you for your assistance

OK - I did attach a file it got the message Secure connection failed. (File was too large) For a two page website the file was somewhat large (over 750 mb) I have sent it through the optomizer - it's reduced the size by removing backup data, still large though for a 2 page site at just over 50 mb. Here is the link

Rod, I downloaded your sample project but am not much wiser.

I did learn that morceau-de-concert--guilmant is the slowest and worst offender, all others (I downloaded a few of your music scores and put them in a test project) loaded in edge in a more timely manner (although painfully slow compared to firefox or chrome).

I believe the problem is morceau-de-concert--guilmant (unless you are finding other scores will never display in edge) and if it was me I would recreate that pdf. I would seriously consider recreating all pdfs as a series of images rather than a true document made up with a complex musical score font if you remain concerned about display performance in edge.

Whatever the fault, I do not believe it is in WX5 or the catalogue viewer, I believe the fault is in Edge and it's inability to render the pdf in a timely manner (I'm pretty sure the pdf when displayed in the catalogue viewer is turned in to a raster image on the fly). After all, on my PC it does load given enough time.

If you stop using the catalogue viewer and place an image in the cell, then link the pdf score to that image, the display is almost instantaneous (even in edge).

This won't help you, but I have a friend who has a website which has a weekly magazine displayed in the catalogue viewer, it always displays fine (and reasonably fast) in edge.
