A question about duplicating a gallery on multiple pages  en

Example: Page one has a gallery with image1.jpg, image2.jpg and image3.jpg - Page six has the exact same gallery pasted with the same images - no changes.

If the gallery object containing the same images is used on more than one page unaltered, are the images uploaded multiple times for each page that the gallery is on, or is there a single location for the images?

Hello Rod

That depends....

If you have the gallery ( whatever gallery )in the header, footer or sidebar, then the images is only uploaded once.

If you use the X5 gallery on more pages, then the images is uploaded for each page - you can't "reuse" the gallery. At least not without using special code.

If you use a slideshow like the wow-slider, then you can "reuse" this on more pages - then the images is only uploaded once.

Hi John,

According to my experience if you copy and paste ready gallery object in a few pages then images are used only one time but if you create the same gallery with the same images separately they are in a few copies with adding some letters to the name.

You are right Andrzej - but you then have to be sure that no changes should be made. However - if it is not a slideshow with really many images, and if the images is optimized for web, then it will do no matter if the images are duplicated. It will not take up much extra space on your site, and regarding performance there should be no difference at all.

So the better question is to Rod,

Why do you want this or is this a probllem.

I would advise like John, just let x5 handle it, there you bought it for! if needed it will split the files up)

And normally there is plenty of webspace, and by using the update option for uploading it is also not alway's uploaded (only if you set something that has a relation to the page, then all will be send again to make sure it all works as it should)

So again, why are you worried about it?

Advice from users is leave x5, let it do where it is designed for.

I was trying to work out an idea for a reference project (still in conception), where images are reused on several pages, but text data on pages is different on each page. (When I say several pages I mean quite a lot).

I would have liked to have made a project where the images where only there once as the nature of the project if the images where duplicated according to the number of pages, would make a very large upload.

X5 would make the project simple, but I'm thinking I may have to research some other concept.

Thank you all for answering my question. You have all been most helpful.
