Hello Antonio,
If you check the error log on your server you will almost certainly be given a valuable clue as to exactly what the trouble is. Here's a typical guide:
https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/stats-logging/how-to-view-cpanel-error-logs
It's most likely to be some sort of issue with folder or database permissions, authentication, PHP configuration, etc. - the error log will guide you. Your error is being thrown at a point when a lot is going on in the background server side.
These 'generic errors' have very little to with the WebSite X5 software, and much more to do with how the server is set up. If you can relay the findings of the error log to us then we can guide you further and more accurately.
Another useful check is to log in to your WebSite X5 admin online control panel... there are a few helpful indicators on there as to whether or not some crucial items are working correctly on the server.

I decided not to process the purchases as Digital purchases.... and it all works fine now. So the problem with Paypal is ONLY encountered on the Digital Purchases.... I still do not know what I did wrong in the setting of the Digital Product....
If you change your mind and decide to use digital purchases then check the error log on the server like I suggested.
Digital products in WebSite X5 make use of the database:
If you want to sell digital products in your online store, you must first select the Send data to a Database option as the Sending order method in the Shopping Cart | Sending order window.
I am quietly confident you have a database issue, on the server.

Hi Paul,
This was the response from the Server Team:
"With regard to the Paypal error, it is not clear as to what might be causing this error. The error itself is also non-specific and just says 'Generic Error'. We have also viewed the server error logs, however nothing reflects which provides any indication that the payment process is being stopped by the server. It would therefore be best to liaise with your respective developers or with PayPal directly to gain more clarity on what might be the cause of this particular issue."
I will re-visit the Digital Products format on the next project.... I think the problem lies with the set-up that i created in WebSite X5.... i
Thanks for your help
Hi Antonio.
I've attempted to verify the issue on your current website, but it seems like it is working just fine right now.
Perhaps this is due to the fact that, as you reported, you changed the settings in order to get it to work quickly.
I would like to verify the issue for you. If possible, upload the faulty version of the project in a subfolder of your domain and share the URL here with me. I will proceed with the test there then as to be able to better identify the problem
Keep me posted on this here
Thank you
