Entire website re-uploading every time instead of simple changes  en

I have recently transferred/installed Evolution 11 (Professional) from my old laptop to my new one (also a Surface Pro). Out of 4 sites I manage, 2 of them are very large as they contain hundreds of song tracks (each site for a different choir).  I had to make a few simple changes to forgetmenots.ie.  Even though I selected "update changes only etc..", it uploaded the entire site (had to do this overnight as we have very slow internet speed). That was fine as it was the 1st upload from this laptop I thought.  But it happened again and again! The last change I made was adding one picture (jpg) to the Notice Board 2019 page. And it again loaded the entire site! This is just not sustainable! I cannot hog the entire internet for our family every time I make the most simple change to a website. Please look into this issue urgently. It is completely unreasonable for the software to need to be updated in its entirety with every small change!

Thank you!

Orla

Hello. The 11th version of the program is no longer supported. Program developers will not be able to help you.
Unfortunately, you are right. This situation sometimes occurs. I have bad internet too. I don’t know which files need to be updated with any changes, so it’s hard for me to judge why this happens.

This has been a problem for a long time with X5 and still is, even with the most updated professional version of X5.

I have a couple of large sites, one of which has 26 PDF ebooks ranging from 3MB to 17MB each and sometimes (not always) if I make a change (even a small change) on the website it will upload the whole website including all of those large files.  It is very time consuming.

Another website I have which is quite large, to combat this problem I have split it into two websites within one.  This way I only get half the problem of uploading the whole site.  It's not ideal but works and takes out some of the frustration.

Hi Orla,

Can you make some screenshots?to understand what a 2019 message board image has to do with it?with version 11.
I'm still using version 11 for some old projects, I didn't notice these problems.Maybe you open a new project check if this anomaly happens, if it happens send me the project I will try to help you solve the problem.

@Migel
Large sizes should always be exported on the server and on the site to link to the pdf file, so the project will not have to upload it online every time and opens instantly on your online site.

I just uploaded a jpg (see attached) to our notice board and the entire site went up again to include video and audio files!  I'm afraid I'm not techy (which is why I chose to use WebsiteX5) and therefore don't want to have to start doing things at the server level.  I just want to be able to use the product locally and upload, and when I choose to only upload changes that it will do this (unless there is a software update or something that needs to load the whole site). Thanks so much for feedback!  I'm considering upgrading to V 12 Pro but I read somewhere there might be Windows 10 issues with this version?  I'd hoped to get this sorted before I considered upgrading.  I agree with the above feedback that you never know when this is going to happen - sometimes I make a small change and that's all that goes up.  Sometimes the whole site goes up.  In this case, since I transferred to a new laptop every single upload has caused the entire site to go up.  So frustrating (and causing a lot of family annoyance with me!) frown

Oria, how did you get your project across to the new pc?

If you have not done so already I recommend you go to step 5, export project.

This will create an iwzip. Now import the new iwzip (this will not overwrite the  existing project).

In your "new" project, do a FULL upload (not new and changed) , if it was me I would first delete all content on the host, but the full upload should suffice.

Subsequent changes and updates should result in only required files being uploaded..

Please let us know the result.
