Go to Page Properties of any page and although we can produce a blank page. It gives us the option of changing the colour of the Content Background......

Which when I insert anything to tile etc...... It doesn't adhere to the margins set for the content in Custom Template??

Hi Cheeky Man,Laughing

..this isn't a bug!

I have explained this feature in this post: http://answers.websitex5.com/post/21417

The reason why you see that is because the image you add to your content has exactly the same width of the template content image, but this image could finish before that and have a shadow.
For example the content image (a white rectangle) could be 500px wide and if it has a shadow on both sides (the shadow is 20px each side) it becomes 500+20+20= 540.

The image you add to your content in the Page/Level Properties will automatically be 540px. Therefore it will look like it is getting out of the content margins.

A little trick i can suggest in order to avoid an incorrect visual layout, is to create a transparent background for your content in .png with a transperent border, here's an example:

Let's take for example (Animals - Bee - Vertical), with the following size: 949 px.
I have created an image 799 px wide and I have added it as content bg. You will see the result in the attachment where you will also find the image I have used and test it yourself.

The best thing you can do is start from the template content image in order to find the correct size you are looking for.

. . . might it be possible that the margins are used from the extremes ?

Samantha I was using the tile function at first and using a 10px X 10px image when that didn't work obviously you try every permutation possible.

I tried inserting a FULL width content image and it worked..... But failed on the height?

Try tiling an image.....     or why offer this option when you say we have to do it a particular way? Why don't they work like they should?

Frank, thanks for the video.

The content image is automatically fit into the template width as explained above and as you can see in the image Pcssa kidly attached. . We haven't placed any limits to give you the chance to do what you want with it.

If you take the content image from your project folder, and work on that you will be able to fit the background perfectly. Of course, you have to set ''do not repeat'' and top center for it to fit correctly. If you use the ''tile'' function or the ''horizontal/vertical'' repeat option of course, it will fill in the whole area. It works just like the background in the custom template section.

It's exaclty the same thing! You need to work on your preset model content image.

In the project folder, get your templates content image and set the size of your page properties - page content background,  by customizing that.

I have used the same template Animals - Bee and created and example for you, please see attached.

Cheeky man, why should you tile the background? If you want it to fit exactly in your project content, you don't need to.
As you know, some of the wbesite X5 functions are very simple, others a bit more tricky. If a novice needs to add an extra content background image to his project, this is how it can be done for it to fit exactly into the preset layout. You simply have to work on the project content image and customize it according to your needs.

If you wish to create something totaly different and experiment a new layout, you can by using the entire space and maybe tile the image. In this case, your content layout will chance complitely.

Attached you will find another example: in this layout I have used the tile image. As you can see in this case it looks ok and it can be used. On the left you will see the original template, on the right I have added a tile content image.
