I have made several websites with members' areas (locked pages).
Because these are not commercial websies we do not want anyone to be able to register - only club-members - so we use manual registration.
But it would be good to give members te possibility to change (reset) their passwords or retrieve forgotten passwords themselves.
Has anyone a solution?

Hi Piet,
if you use the Login & Logout object for your restricted pages, you should see also a "Password forgotten" link below the user/password text fields. If you select this link, a new text filed appears where the user can enter the email address together with a send button. The user will receive afterwards an email, with instructions on how to reset the password.
It is the same task like in the admin console, when the admin hits the key icon behind a user entry.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for your anser but as far as I know this is only the case when you use automatic registration, but that doesn't apply to my websites. As I said, only official members of the clubs are allowed to enter the members area. If you use automatic registration anyone could register and access the locked pages. For privacy reasons we can't allow this to happen.
Hi Piet,
ok understand the problem, but I don't think that a user can't automatically reset the password at all in manual mode or does it work out of the admin console by sendig the reset instructions to a user email?
In my opinion the only way is a form where the user can enter the email address and send it to the admin for further handling.

With manual registration this is impossible.
Because the password is stored on your PC where you have the project ... and NOT on a DataBase.
If you put protected pages, with authorisation to a specific Group (and therefore not those of the automatic registration) ... you can have the users register with the automatic, then you, by hand, copy them into the authorised group... and only then will they access the pages.
I have never tested, however, whether they can then change their passwords themselves... but you can do this test
