For WebSite X5, click "Settings" in the bottom left and then browse for the files on your hard drive.

Hi Daniel

Thanks for the swift response - much appreciated.

The bottom left of my screen does not show "Settings" - it shows two items - "Preferences" and "Updates"
"Updates" show I am on the latest version of WebSite X5 software.

"Preferences" shows me the screen per your screenshot. I have checked my hard drive - but for some reason the last two Projects (7 Dec and 10 Dec) do not appear on my hard drive.

However - I did “Export” both these projects to a removable hard drive - as I always do for added security.

The 10 December 2022 exported file shows a file size of 0KB.

The 7 December 2022 exported file shows a file with 1,955,007 KB - which is in line with previously exported files. When I try to upload this file, I get an error message "An Error occurred while loading the Project" (Central Directory Corrupt)

Fortunately - I have been able to “Import” an earlier file dated 18 October 2022 and will work from that.

If you can give me any idea as to why a) 7 Dec and 10 Dec files were not automatically saved to my hard dirve and b) what went wrong with the Export dated 7 December 2022 - and if there is some wat to get it to work please do let me know.

Regards
Malcolm

The employees of Incomedia would have to comment on specific questions regarding the error message.

Normally you should regularly create a backup copy (iwzip file), see screenshot below (in German, because I live in Germany)

The backup copy (iwzip file) contains everything you need to continue working with WebSite X5. But that should certainly be known, right?

The backup copy (iwzip file) also allows a second user to edit the project on another computer (with the same WebSite X5 version), e.g. web agencies and their clients.

Thanks Daniel

How do I bring this apparent error in the software to the notice of Incomedia employees / are you able to forward it?

Rgds

Malcolm

Hello Malcolm

Thank you for your report

Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to determine why the projects do not appear. What is certain is that the software will never, under no condition, delete projects. If projects disappear, it must mean that they were either remove involuntarily or voluntarily from the device, or as Daniel pointed out, perhaps they were being saved in a different folder before and for some reason, the software is no longer looking for them in the same folder. In that case though, it is usually enough to just swap the folder as described by Daniel.

If possible, making a full backup IWZIP is always the best way to avoid issue while working with the software. Whatever might happen, a backup IWZIP can guarantee that a project will be restorable fully on all cases

I remain available here

Stefano
