Multilingue  it

Salve!

Attendo Vostre grazie mille

@Vivian

If you upgrade each project there should be no troubles - other what an upgrade from an older version could give.

The content in your projects will be the same so the language-dependent text will be the same (unchanged).

If you afterwards want to change colors or so, you still have to do it in each project separately - as each language is a separate project.

I would advice you to choose one of the projects for a test. Make a copy of that project in the old version and then save the project as a iwzip. Then import that project in the new version. Upload the project in a new testfolder and check that all is functioning. Remember to set the new export-folder to the testfolder. If you find no issues, then you can upgrade all your projects and then replace the old projects.

If you want a quick-and-dirty way to create a multilangual site, you can use the Google-translate. You then only have one project and it can be presented in all languages. There is a BUT. - But you have no control over the translation. I have a site here: https://bramminginfo.dk/

The translation is fairly good, but I have discovered some funny things about the translation. The original language is Danish and when using some special phrases/words the meaning can be completely different from what I intended. When I found such things I have changed the text, but maybe this have caused another confusion in another language - I will newer find out as I only are able to check in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, German and English.

The way you have made the multilangual site is the correct way, when it is a professional site. If you want to present or sell something, it is important that you are in control of, what text is used to present the issues.

Years ago the translation-tools were so poor that you could not use them on a site - no one would take a site seriously when the text on the pages were as like a litte child had made the text. The translation-tools have grown older since then.

So if you choose the easy way or the professional way is up to you.

Another way is to simulate a CMS-system.

You create a project in one language. Normally English - but if you expect 99% of the visitors to come from another country then you could choose that country.

On the pages where you have text, then the text is shown in an iframe, and the content comes from a Google Document. For the same text you have different document - each document in its own language.

On the page you then have links - a link for each language/document. The initial language/document is text in the language you have chosen as the main-language.  When a link is clicked then the corrseponding document is shown in the iframe. This way you only have one project but documents for each language.

PRO's : You only have one project to maintain.

CON's: All menus and so, are in the same language - only the text in the iframes can be chosen in another language.

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/154019

Le nuove funzioni le trovi qui:

https://www.websitex5.com/it/nuove-funzioni.php

(It > En) ... even if there will always be work to do, as an idea to broaden ideas, ... I add another personal idea of mine, very simple to make with my little EXTRA code is this:
... a single site for all languages with the relative real translations in separate lines, in this way, when you edit a section you can quickly do it also in the other languages of the same page...
... for instance:
--------------------------------------
>●... line 1 – section (1) English
en en en en en en etcetera
>●... line 2 – section (1) French
fr fr fr fr fr etc
>●... line 3 – section (1) German
de de de de de etc
--------------------------------------
>■... line 4 – section (2) English
en en en en en en etcetera
>■... line 5 – section (2) French
fr fr fr fr fr etc
>■... line 6 – section (2) German
de de de de de etc
--------------------------------------
.. etc
.................................................... .
... by clicking for example on the French flag you would only see the relevant sections in French:

>●... line 2 – section (1) French
fr fr fr fr fr etc
>■... line 5 – section (2) French
fr fr fr fr fr etc
........ etc...............
.

My idea with the Google-document and KolAsims good idea requires some kind of coding. But it brings me to the idea: How about using the X5 accordion object.

You could have the preferred language open as a start and then when another language is chosen the new language opens as the other language close. It requires no coding and a flag can be shown if you use some html in the text.

You could make it like "style03"

https://market.websitex5.com/en/objects/live-preview/526c4939-3abc-41c3-b34a-37baa6a14af?_ga=2.44433508.1984791958.1674221511-2028703676.1674221511

Imagine that "Title Box 01" was Italian, Title Box 02 was English and Title Box 03 was another language.

And that an Italian flag was shown in front of "Title Box 01".

An English flag was shown in front of "Title Box 02".

The Italian text was initially shown. Then when clicking on the English flag, the English text will open and the Italian text will close.

You only have one project to maintain, you decide what texts should be translated and the words used, and you have all the texts for an item, grouped in one accordion-object.

A page could have more accordeons if you have separate paragraphs. You can have a maximum of 15 languages which should be enough.

... ... idea by idea, all interestingwink, ... here's another idea of mine that is easily achievable ...
... put the texts in Object TEXT + Tabs (v.PRO) :
> [EN] | [FR] | [DE]

... and with EXTRA code, clicking on the flag of the language would open all the relative Tabs...
... in this way all the relative translations would be collected in the same object, and whoever wanted to read only that text in another language would be free to do so by clicking on the relevant tab...
... the major work would consist in identifying the IDs of the various reference Tabs, but when the work is finished it would look very good..

.

ciao a tutti
