Question about Hidden Page  en

Hello,

I have a hidden page that was crawled, indexed, and appeared in Google Search, available to the public.  I had the hidden URL removed from Google Search, with the removal tool, and it's only good for 6 months. I'm looking for a solution. This particular hidden URL is used as a link in an email. Is there a solution to keep my page hidden from appearing in Google Search? Thank you. Jerald

Also, in the software, it's still showing the page, hidden.

A hidden page is not displayed in the menu, but this hidden page is entered in the sitemap.xml file and search engines such as Google can read this file.

If you want to hide a page from search engines, don't just mark it as "Hidden," but rename its filename after each export to the internet.

Or, mark the page as "Protected," and users receive the access data (email address and password) along with the link to the protected page.

With the access data for the logged page, only 1 access can be used for many users (one group).

Example of login details for all email users:

The best should be if the page is hidden, export does do it.

And if previously export has be done with this page, WSX5 should removed the file from the website automatically.

"A hidden page is not displayed in the menu, but this hidden page is entered in the sitemap.xml file and search engines such as Google can read this file."

Thanks, Daniel. Wow!! I didn't consider that! I thought that once you selected 'hidden,' Google wouldn't crawl and index the page. It seemed to work in the past. I just had this one hidden page that happened to appear in the Google Search, and I had to remove it until I could get a better understanding of what's going on and find a solution. I was leaning toward locking the page with a password if I couldn't find a permanent fix. Thank you for that suggestion. It confirmed my thoughts on a solution.

Hi Axel, I was thinking the same thing, until my hidden page appeared in the Google Search. Daniel's explanation of what happened is something I didn't consider, and locking my page seems to be what I need to do if my page reappears in Google after 6 months. I used the Google Removal Tool to remove the page, but it's only good for 6 months.  If you have a solution other than locking the page, I would love to hear it. Other than that, it seems locking my page if it reappears in Google will be the best way to go! Thank you for the suggestion.

Hello Jerald,
in the Properties of a page, in the Expert section, you can also choose not to include a specific page in the sitemap, if you wish to.
