Image display problem  en

Is there any reason why an image suffixed '.jpg' should appear in the generated code as '.JPG' resulting in no image being displayed (the image had been uploaded as '.jpg'). Unix servers are case sensitive so why the change?

Also footer amendments were not actioned in the generated code, I had to go back and make further changes to get it loaded.

Hi Ricardo,

Further investigation resulted in finding that the original image name was held as 'JPG' in capitals (supplied by client).

The normal windows explorer display default did not show the suffix, switching on the view option in explorer and using the 'Details' option was used to see the problem. Straight image display still showed it in Uppercase.

Changing the suffix to lower case, re doing the affected image and re exporting seems to have sorted the problem. Oh! and the link was applied to the image and text as a single select operation.

Not sure how this is 'worked' around other than the creation software sorting it.

I have enclosed a pictue of my windows explorer display, showing some image details held on my PC, I hope this helps in clarifying it

You can clearly see the problem. Some images are taken straight from a digital camera and show as 'JPG' not 'jpg'.

Hi Nigen,

when you insert in the program an image with the estension test.JPG, when you export in internet the program rename the file of the image from .JPG to .jpg and work correctly.

If the image don't see probably is not a estension problem but  a path problem, check if the paths are correct.

I have just had 15 missing image problems reported back to me. All the images are on the site but have the uploaded suffix in capitals ie .JPG as in the original image. The path checks out as images/iamgename.jpg.

It is a problem in the X5 build code where the file name suffix does not reflect that of the original. X5 sets the suffix to Lowercase but uploads the 'Uppercase' version.

IE9 does not get affected locally as it is correcting the problem. I am now double checking the site locally in Firefox, Google and Safari, where the images are not showing.

I will also be rebuilding the site after amending all the images suffix's to lowercase '.jpg', my client required the site up on 1st July but like all clients, he had not fully tested the site. My local testing showed as OK as did the uploaded pages that I viewed. There are over 70 pages on the site hence the rando selection. Also all the pages worked OK on the previous upload.

I have just isolated out the problem.

In both cells I have a Text and Picture link to another page which shows the same picture as in the link.

In the first instance the image is '.jpg'.

In the second instance the image is a '.JPG'.

Export the file and look at the images folder.

Check the created html source and you will see that the '.JPG' item refers to JPG in the Home page Text object.

Check the linked page source and the reference is to a 'jpg', this image does not exist in the X5 created 'images' directory.

Load to a server, use a browser and you will see the problem.

I have attached the iwprj file together with the 2 images to assist you.

the image name in the iwprj file is '.jpg', in the exported file it is '.JPG'
