SIte converted from v9 to v10 loses image links  en

On converting site with cart from v9 to v10 everything appears ok immediately after conversion. However, when subsequently working with shopping cart items image links appear fragile and break. What happens is this: In advanced settings, shopping cart, duplicate a product item (ctrl+c then ctrl-v). The duplicate gets suffix 1 appended to item name. The image link in this duplicate item with suffix 1 is ok, but the image link in the original item is now bad/broken even though the file name is correct under the tab IMAGE. It seems that v10 is looking for the original file that was used to generate the image and it is looking in the wrong place. This picture shows the error message that comes up: Wrong Path

One would have thought that it is looking in the folder specified in settings, but it is not, it is looking in the default folder if settings had not had the following specified: Specified path

But that is only the half of it. Because converting from v9 to v10 means exporting the site from v9 then importing the site to v10 all info about source files should be zeroed out and hence no error message should be expected like this.

What I also see is that sometimes when the file name has/had spaces in v9, these spaces are now hyphenated in v10. In some cases the IMAGE file name in v10 is e.g "brazil agate.jpg" when the file is actually "brazil-agate.jpg" In these cases v10 finds the image (is that because there is multiple versions on the server from previous uploads), but when a product item is duplicated as mentioned above it cannot find the file. However, the issue with v10 not finding image files when duplicate product items are made also applies when the file name is just one word with no spaces, eg "brazilagate.jpg"

My work around: Duplicate an item. The duplicate gets the suffix "1". Use the original item (without suffix 1) as your new item. Think of it (ie the original) as the duplicate. Make changes to this "new" item as appropriate. When done go back to the item that got the suffix "1". Rename this item back to its original name by deleting the suffix 1. In this way, if you are changing the image in the duplicate item as well as othe stuff then you only do the image link change once. If you use the item with suffix 1 as your new item then you have to go back to the original anyway but then you have to change the link to the image file so you get two listings for the same image and then you have to remove/delete the link first (original) link to image file to cut out the error message.

Hello Ian,

If the exported project from V9 has missing images, when you import it in Version 10 it searches also in the original location to find the file to try to recreate the correct project.

Many thanks!
