Upload to web host of revised website  en

I recently upgraded from x5v8 to x5v10E. I am currently transferring the contents of a website I created in v8 across to v10. The "old" website is being hosted by one.com. My apologies if this is a stupid question, but when I eventually upload my "new" website to the host, will it automatically overwrite the "old" one, or do I have to do something else first? Thanks.

Jim,

Your new site will override the old one. So you can upload it with x5 and it will work.

However, there could be old files there that will no longer work. People that have direct acces to them might see a very unusual site.

So if you update to your webserver it's a good idea to delete the contence and then upload the v10 project.

If you want a backup you can download to contence of your webserver to your pc with a seperate ftp program, like fillezilla. But if you still have v8 working then you can fall back on that one as well.

Thanks, Andre, that is good to know. I'm not sure how to delete the contents on the webserver, though. Could you please tell me how to do that? Thanks.

I assume you connect with the upload in page 5 from v10 evolution. Then you need to select the correct folder of your webhosting where you website is/was uploaded.

There you will find the website files you have uploaded. You can select all the files (select the first folder or file, then use shift and select the last folder or file). Then use the red cross on top to delete all the selected files.

Now you can upload your V10 project and start working from there as you used to do in V8.

If you need more info let me know.
