Hidden home page in menu

To make more room in the menu bar I wish to hide the home page from the menu by making it 'hidden', I will put the link to the homepage as a hyperlink on the logo image.
If I do this am I affecting google picking up the homepage as an important page in its indexing?
Are there any downsides to this?

Hello Mike,
No it will not affect the indexing. Chek only the home page in step 3 in the properties in the expert tab is included in the sitemap.
