Since up dating to Version 15 Professional, I have not been able to upload my project and keep getting the same error that can not connect to the server as show in the attached screen shot.  I have closed virus protection and Windows 10 security with no success.  Please HELP!  This newer version is of no use to me if it does not work.  I have had no problems with viersions 13 and 14 Professional and this is very frustrating.

Jim, I am not aware of any issues created updating from 15.2.2 to 15.2.3, if it worked earlier it should work now. Please export your site to the hard disk, and then using filezilla or similar, upload your site to your host. If you can not do this then the problem will be with your host I suspect.  If filezilla works and not WX5 in spite of exactly the same settings, then the problem is likely being caused by anti-virus/anti-spyware or firewall.

Please advise if filezilla works.

Most hosting services require something that looks similar to this in wx5

As I said previously, I was on the phone with my provider and we tried everything.  Got to a point where he could see that it was trying to load but got error "cannot change destination file".  I will try filezilla today.

Jim, it almost sounds like a permissions issue.

Why not try your domain name rather than the IP address, my host has changed my IP address (they moved me to another server) twice in the past 5 years.

Please let us know how you get on with Filezilla.

Jim, this sounds like the destination you chose does not exist.

I create a directory inside my project directory (web), and I simply export there, this is an example of one of my projects.

BTW

When you get filezilla working, I have found that exporingt an iwzip file to the web folder means that I can store a recent iwzip file up on the host and it gives me a near bullet proof recovery option in case of catastrophe.

This is so confusing to me now. Is there a way we can go online together with you on my computer to look at what is going on?

When you create an FTP account, the account is given access to the folder you specify. It's not unusual for people to miss this part of the process because cPanel does it's best to guess and create a folder automatically based on the FTP account name you create. If you have an FTP account that is assigned to an incorrect folder, you will want to change the folder the account is assigned to. cPanel does not currently offer the option to change the folder for an FTP account "on the fly." The only way to change the folder an FTP account is assigned to is to delete and recreate the FTP account. When recreating the FTP account, be sure the Directory field is set to the folder you want your FTP account to have access to

Jim

Did you manage to export to disk.

Did you then manage to upload to host with filezilla?

If upload with filezilla work it means there was a mistake when updating. Make iwzip copy all of your project and delete x5 for reinstall (full delete see my solution below). If this not help need search problem in your computer (lan, router, windows settings, firewall rulez , etc)

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/fr/post/195245

maybe its help. Good luck

Aleksey:

Followed your instructions and totally deleted X5 Pro ver 15 from my conputer  and everything in the documents file.  Reinstall and imported the project which had to update to newer version.  Viewed the site with the viewer and all is there. Went to upload and, again, got the same message.  Ran as Admin and turned off Anti Virus program and Windows 10 security and still get the same error message.

Would welcome any other suggestions.

Jim, according to the filezilla screen shot you have logged into the parent directory. If you scroll down there should be a public directory into which you can upload your website (perhaps public_html or www)

Also I note that you appear to have an iwzip in the local directory. Unless you are doing this for backup purposes you should have all the files that make up your website. This is done in step 5 export, export the website to disk and again choose VM TEST 2 folder.

Perhaps you need to chat with your host again, they should be able to step you through uploading your site with filezilla, you are almost certainly attempting to upload to the wrong folder on the host.

Jim, you export to disk and then select all files (CTRL A), then right click, and select upload.

I got a new update notice for X5 Pro and installed it with the hope that my problem would go away.  I have not had time to contact my host but did receive this new error message.

Can you exlain the code to me prior to me contacting my host?  See attached.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim, I am sorry I do not know how or why you should get this error message. None the less, if you can get filezilla to work I am sure the same settings in WX5 will also work, it's just that your host should be familiar with filezilla.
