No email to purchaser and seller when item is purchased  en

when someone purchases an item, confirmation emails are not being sent/received by the purchaser or the website owner.
This has been working OK for several years but has suddenly stopped working.
I had set the email script to low-level script.  Since failure of email I reset scipt to PHP.  Still no result.

Any suggestions please.
