Hi guys i would like to improve my online shop basically i dont like the way all products are displayed straight away i have put the search bar to help people to look for items.
I would like to add some categories for items IE: sound with a drop down list of a sub categories the customer clicks on it and its take them to another page with the specified items in it.
Im not sure if this is possible but would be great if it could.

At this moment it is not possible to make items filters. It a wished for many times, so I hope Incomedia will create them in the future!
I see that the last IDEA post is closed, maybe open a new one?

If you want it, you could also create multiple shop pages with only the products for every page you wish, this way you can make a menu item to go to the page with the selected items.
But filters in just one shop (like the IDEA post link) is a very nice option, i truly hope Incomedia will create it in the near future.
Best Regards.

thats a shame i will try and do it they way you have stated Andre i have also done ide as well as i think that would very useful
Yes it is a shame, I realy hope they implement this.
There are free shops that can be implemented in x5 that offer way more options for free.
So I think x5 just can't stay behind on this option.
There are several posts here in x5 about other shops and searches, see here for example: https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/fr/post/197853
We solve this with the use of multiple objects product catalog with anchors and simple TextMenus (or level menus with link per level anchor). To be seen at: https://www.plocher-produkte.ch/alle-plocher-produkte.php
The links are each in the green line above the product window.

So we are freer and can also use products from different categories in e-commerce
