Has Shopping cart updated before purchasing new x5?  en

I have been using X5 for years now but havent upgraded to the new versions because I found 2 problems with the shopping cart.

What I would like to know is that if the have now been resolved because I would love to update my version to the new one.

The 2 problems are :

When creating my shopping cart I discovered that I wasnt able to offer mutiple options for each product. E.g 

I sell Oak Beams, they come in muliple sizes, widths, colours and shapes yet I wasnt able to sell my product as I could only offer one option like a t-shirt Small, Medium or Large. Obvioulsy if I sell a 2m x 50cm light beam it would be a different price to a 1mx 30cm dark colour and so on.

the 2nd problem was at checkout.

If a customer makes a purchace using paypal. They make their selection, fill in their details then get a PAYMENT CONFIRMATION BEFORE THEY HAVE PAID, this is very confusing as people think there is a fault and email me.

My customers are unsure about purchasing and leave the site and phone me instead. I found this very disapointing as this is the final thing you create on the site. I have put in a lot of hours creating my website, so it looks good and attracts customers only for them to leave at the end beacuse things are the wrong way around!!!

Could you please advise on whether these issues has benn fixed so I can continue using X5

Andrew, the payment confirmation is still sent before payment is received but the wording can be changed both on the website and the email sent to the customer to make things clearer. Electronic purchases are now automated, so perhaps one day Incomedia will give an option to only send receipt after payment.

The cart now supports multiple options and pricing, so I recommend you download the trial version and check it out. We are currently at v17.0.8 but a new version is due for release and I recommend you wait a little.

Please note that you are using professional, so to upgrade your project/s you will need to purchase professional.

Hi Esahc,

I’m just checking in with you on the reverse shopping cart issue where a confirmation is sent out before the payment is taken for physical goods.

Is this resolved in the new release you just mentioned?

if not, is there a person we can get in touch with who has the authority to raise this outstanding issue to the Incomedia software engineering group to get it elevated and resolved?

Barry, this is not resolved. Incomedia did address the issue for electonic purchases however.

Incomedia are aware of the wish for this functionality, but there is no word on when (or even if) this might be changed.

Your customers will continue to receive confirmation of order before receipt of payment.

Thank you Esahc. I applaud the software engineering team for updating the immediate digital download and I saw that was in the latest release. As a moderator, can you talk with the Incomedia software folks and see what they need to make it happen or do you not have access to them in a team meeting or phone list where you could just call them?

I just had several more lost sales because of shopping cart customer confusion this month alone and I will be forced to rewrite my whole website and go to another website solution if it is not resolved in the next release. I can't wait any longer because it is costing me sales. Have them contact me directly if that is what they need to understand the problem...

Barry, I totally understand your frustration. I manage 3 shops for customers and have modified the wording in confirmation emails sent out, I have also changed the wording as it appears in the shop during the process by modifying the wording in content language, it's not perfect but the customers no longer appear confused.

I have marked your post for Incomedia's attention in the hope it helps move things along.

Esahc,

I received an email from Incomedia that they have just done a radical update to Website X5 and redesigned a lot of features.

Did they finally fix the physical checkout to match the downloadable product checkout so that the purchase is done in one step without the confirmation email process like before?

I sort of figure this is the last chance to find out if they really listen to their customers because this was a major update and if they were going to ever do it, it would be now...

Did they make the change?

Esahc,

I see from you short reply that you are as disappointed as all of us are that they didn't listen to you either when you marked my post to Incomedia to get their attention on 3/15/18. I think that since they didn't listen to you it says they will never listen to any of us, their ecommerce customers who pay the cost of their higher priced pro version.

I have sold probably a dozen friends and other businesses on buying Website X5 over the years because I thought they had a superior website authoring software, but I will have to tell all of them that Incomedia will no longer listen to customers about improving their software and that they need to find other alternatives. 

Esahc, I don't know what it is like working for a company that doesn't listen to you when you bring suggestions to them to add or fix over a 3 year/5 version update stretch of time and they just ignore you. I have never been in that situation so I hope they do start listening to you because you are a good guy and at least you have tried to help all of us...

and we paid an update protection just for relooking only and not fixes of main issues asked by customers.

@Barry - Esahc is not an employee at INCOMEDIA ( at least I think not wink ) He is just a user like you and I.

@Axel - Yes; I was a bit disappointed to see that there was no new functions - but at least it seems that they have done something to the parallax.
