Expiring Credits  en

Why are my credits expiring?  I paid for these credits and wasn't aware that they had a time limit.  You should be refunding my payments for my unused credit, if you want to terminate them.  It is not my fault there is not any available Objects for sale that I desire at this time.  If you proceed to expire my credits, I will not be buying any additional ones in the future and I will not be recommending your software.

Thomas - You should be aware that INCOMEDIA is an Italian firm.

You can't scare them - It is the Italians that scares peoplesmile

And you are not alone - many many in this forum has written and asked for an explanation - and there is no explanation why the credits are "taken" - even if they are paid for. That's just what they do.

They have a policy: If you don't like the smell in the kitchen - then leave.

So you either have to live with the "stealing" of your credits or stop buying credits. As you describe you intend to do.

Hi All,

When I renewed my license in December, it included the cost of “credits” whether you wanted them or not, probably to give you the illusion of added value. There was no opt out of “credits”.

At least highway robbers in the past wore masks, now they speak Italian.

Some WebSite X5 users create websites for customers who can buy templates in advance.

I haven't bought any credits myself, the free templates and objects are enough for me.

Hello Thomas,

unfortunately, I must confirm that Credits do have an expiration date. I fully understand your point of view and I really hope this won't cause any issues. Please consider, though, we warn about the Credit expiration on the FAQ page, as well as the on the Credits Page.

Thanks! Kind regards.

What is the reason why the credits expire after 365 days?

Hi Reiner,

it's an internal company decision.

The Credits system allows us to manage micropayments, so that we can keep the price of resources in the Marketplace relatively low. By adopting this system, we have aligned ourselves to many other IT-companies that also use this method. If you think about Envato, for example, you will find that there are some similarities in what concerns the expiration of unused credits.

Thanks! Kind regards.

Elisa,

You insult your customers, being robbed by different thieves does not make the

crime acceptable.

Hi Jim,

I am really sorry you guys aren't happy with this system, and unfortunately there is very little I can do in this situation, since the decision doesn't depend on my will. All I can do is report your remarks, but I fear there won't be any major changes in this system, at least in the near future.

Thanks! Kind regards.

Hi Elisa,

Thank you for your honesty, having followed most of your posts, I like most users on this forum appreciate the position that you find yourself in. Following the “party” line is indeed a difficult thing to resolve with your own standards.

A couple of things as a followup.  First thanks to all who agree with my comment.  To me this is not about the money.  It is about how you act with your customers and just to be clear, I currently have 79 of these objects, most of which I have paid for over the years going back to about 2013 and multiple paid program updates.  I am not doing this for a business.  I just do some personal websites for myself and a couple of club websites.  I enjoy doing them and like to use the objects to see what I can do with them and enhance my websites.  Elisa, I know you just have to put out the company line, but a reason to do something because you have always done it that way or because your competition does it, isn't a very good reason.

I fully agree withThomas. To my mind it's somehow unfair to invalidate credits after this relatively short time. You have to bear in mind that your user/customer  can't buy exactly that amount of credits he/she needs for a certain object. Thus purchasing credits leads almost allways to a surplus of credits and the customer runs the risk of loosing them.

I don't want to complain about the (additional) costs for the objects but you should take into account that they increase the costs für X5 and invalid credits are nothing else than extra costs.

Finally you should not forget that other website systems (e. g. Wordpress) come with an extensive ecosystem of free of charge plugins.

Incomedia keep adding optional objects. If they ever change credits so they never expire I am going to have lots of purchases to make :-)
