I have set up a button to print the current page which works fine. However the page is not printed as shown on screen. It condenses everything and also removes the tables from the page. This occurs when I preview so unsure if it would do the same on the exported site. I would not wish to export unless I knew it would work OK Any ideas...thanksSmile

Hi Lesley,

you need to create a css for print, you add in your site:

<link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” href=”print.css” media=”print”>

and create the file print.css with the css code.

Try to search a guide in google for create a print css.

This is totally confusing to me. With version 7, tables printed fine without having to do any of this!!

Can you advise in plain english what I have to do with the code you supplied to enable our customers to print off a booking form from the website?

Having looked on google I am even more confused as it looks like you need to be a rocket scientist to do this!!

Alternatively could I send you the project and you sort it for me??

Hope you can help

Lesley

Hi Lesley,

First of all, you have to copy the "meta tag" that I gave to you in your site and paste it in the tab "expert" in the step 1.
Than you have to create a .CSS file for the print, you have to search for a guide in google  in order to understand how to create a .CSS file and write the css Code.

Thanks for your help but on googling it, I was totally lost and confused so I will not bother and do away with the text boxes and re think the site....

It is worth pointing out though that I am dissapointed that version 9 has caused this issue!!

Riccardo, I still dont understand what you mean, what do you want me to send you a screen shot of?

Website x5 was always simple to use, that is why I use it. I am not clued up on website design, but wersion 9 seems much harder to use!

I had decided to do away with the tables on the booking form and create an email booking form instead. However I now have an issue with the email form not sending (see my seperate post)

This is all very frustrating!!

Hi Lesley,

sorry for this inconveniente but it's probably that depends by the option of the Browser.

Try change Browser, try stamp your site by the Internet Explorer and let me knowSmile

What do you mean by stamp your site...Apologies if there is a language barrier here??

 Where is the file print.css located, if I could find it then I could perhaps modify it. Although I am at a complete loss as to what I change and what too!!

Am I looking for this file on the x5 project or on my server. if it is on the x5 project, could I not just send the project to you and you sort it for me????Frown

Hello Lesley,

Riccardo means that maybe the print issue is browser-related. Do you get the same collapsed table when you print your page with another browser?

If so, you can edit your print.css file, adding your custom css to show the table with a different style. This is not complicated if you already know a little bit of CSS.

Just edit the file "print.css" in the "style" folder of your site adding something like:

table { border: 1px solid black; } td { padding: 5px; }

Remember that if you edit the online print.css file, you have to replace it everytime you update your website.

Keep me informed!

Thank you!

I have alsorts of problems with this new X5 ver 9 This software you have designed is discribed as a software for people who are not web designers and is for us dummies. I have found that after I upgraded from 7 to 8 i had little or no problems. but when I upgraded from ver8 to 9 it is a different ball game . you have removed many sections from the blog. I always thought an upgrade is surpose to be an improvement on the ver before. this is not the case with the blog we have lost what was in ver 8, and then we are told to do this and to that. This is not what an upgrade is surpose to be, not another work load for us to do. sorry for being so open but your new X5 ver 9 is a good program if you  have the knowledge to do what you are telling us to do.

many of us just do not have the knowledge to follow your instructions as the author as pointed out. he just want to print and now has a work load because you have changed the section that covers this , then its up to us to start to enter this and that.

 Come on X5 get your act together and design a program upgrade that is not a problem for your customer and is an upgrade and does not remove many sections from the blog that was in ver 8. you have bugs in the ver 9 and this is because you put it on sale before it was tested.   Kind regards
