Hello fellow community users!

For SEO purposes, I would like to add a title and alternative text to images within my websites.

Can someone with experience, please give an example to what or how I should format the following Image Object "Properties" boxes?

Based upon this image below:

What would be the appropriate text for the following:

Title:

Alternative Text:

I am intrigued to what is the correct way to achieve this. If anyone could be kind enough to give some examples, it would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a maximum number of letters / digits.

Regards,

PJ D.

Hello PJ D,

It is best to check the F1 help function, if you have not done so yet, here you can find additional information :

Title: this is the title of the image; it will be added to the title attribute of the <img> tag in the page HTML code.

Alternative Text: this is the text that is shown when the image cannot be displayed for some reason. In the page's HTML code the alternative text will be added to the alt attribute of the <img> tag.

If you need more information then I ussually check internet cause the code used by x5 are standard objects for elements.

For the image title I found here moere info: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_global_title.asp

So the title gives in most exporers a small pop up or a text about the image.

In some cases (if people have pictures set to off (like in bad or poor website bandwith) they get the alternate text instead of the picture, so it should be a text so that this user understand the picture in relation to your site.

How many letters I would not know but I prefere to keep it as simple and direct as possible. Longer text makes users skip information faster..... You shoulld always look at your site by the eyes of a visitor when adding this info.

Hope this helps you.

Best Regards, Andre
