Inserting a slideshow in the Header Template

I want to use the "Header" for a slideshow. When I insert the gallery logo and add 3 items (different aircraft models) it shows with the image why down on the header and cuts off in the content area?
I can't seem to get the show to the top of the header area for it to work. It cuts off because it inserts so far down on the header area. I can't seem to find how to raise the slideshow up to the top of the header so it won't cut off.
I see how to make the header larger or smaller but there are no controls to place the slideshow within the header.
This is a new website I'm creating and don't have a URL as yet. I've snaged an image of what I'm talking about and attached it.
Thank you, Jame Ivey

You should be able to edit the position - just drag it- in the Template content / header / footer.
Beware there are 4 viewports you must check tho object for every viewport, watch the coloured borders for that in x5 and in preview.
Hi James,
please follow Andre's advice and let us know if you need further help.
I wish you a nice day.

I did manage to figure it out, however, it wasn't easy at all. And a big BUT, the images I was putting in were all JPEGs. I could not size them no matter what I did. I tired to change the size in photoshop and when I inserted them they were the same size no matter what? The template window is not easy to deal with at all.
I also found that when building pages in the Map, if you, say, create 3 pages and next you create a level with 3 sub pages you can not, that I'm aware of, of creating another page under the previous level. It keeps adding the page to the last page of the level. I remember in other versions that you could drag pages in the top down breakdown. Hope you have the answer?
Thank you.
Jim
You can drag in step 3 or use the buttons on the right for pushing pages or levels up and down.
It was always like in the picture:(pages can only be catagorized by level.
But you can make a level a page!
create the page, set it hidden. set in the level item a link to the hidden page by use of the properties button.
Hope this helps

Once I figured out how to get rid of "Special Pages" it's working fine. I really don't understand what the purpose of "Special Pages" are?
As I go along building this site, I keep coming upon problems I never had in v.12. Now when I make a link on a page and go through the steps and when I view it there are 2 things: 1. the font color is very dim and I don't know why? 2. When it opens up it's not going to IE to view. It looks like some other kind of window and sometimes it finds the link and other times it doesn't. When I go to an old site I made with that same link it opens in IE just fine?
I'm sorry to be so confused but this v.14 sure is different and I'm not sure it's better?
It is definatly better in a way that there are more and nicer options in it that can make your webside look better.
But yes some items have changed. but the menu should work and a link to a website should always open an webbrowser.
Did you refresh memory by pressing F5 prior to check changes online?
If this happens always, please provide a link so we can see what is happening.
the font colour for links are set in the text style section of the template (use pulldown) just like in v12.

I've attached a image file of good links and ones you can hartley read. However, they are still good links you just can't see them?
Then change the colour to something better looking.
step2 text style, use pulldown menu.

I hear you and I'll try, but the fact remains I've used the same color for all of them and with difference results???
there are 3 colours to set, one for notice it's a link, then one for if you have used (followed the link) and the third is if you go over it with your mouse.
if you have used the link then change the colour of the visited link.

Andre E,
Thank you very much for helping me. I'm making head way with "Menus." I wanted to not have the full Templete show on some of the pages. Some of them are sub pages "Level." However, when I attempted have choose a "Level" Folder be on the menu it will not allow it (the "okay" button doesn't light up). Other words I was trying to make the full templete menu be on pages that I don't want the "full" templete on. It will let me have as many pages on a menu but not the "Level" folders.
If you can solve this one, I'll leave you alone for a long time as I've learned enough about v. 14 now. Here is a draft of my site: http://vp16association.cfns.net/
Thanks very much,
Jim
Hello James
You have made a nice site. I will suggest you to make a page menu for the sub-menus - and then direct to the first page of the sub.meny when clicking the main-menu item.
And then you could put the menu on the page as an object, or by using the sidebar.
You could also have the page-menu in the top as a one-liner as you do not have many page sub-menus.
The best will be to use the side-bas as this can be made "sticky".
You can see what I mean to have a page-menu to the left. look here : http://www.calendarforum.dk/examples.html
This example is made in ver 12. but it shows what I mean. In ver 12 the page menu disappears when scrolling, as it cannot be sticky. It can in v. 14 if using the side-bar.
Try clicking some of the main-menu points and see how the page and the sub-menu then appears. You can ALSO click the sum menu points directly.
If you don't want the template to be shown in all pages, you can have a page without the template and then use the menu-object on these pages.
I will suggest you to make your main-menu in the template to be "sticky".
I have not done this in my v. 12 version as it would cause trouble- it could be made in ver. 14.
This is just some ideas for you.
Kind regards
John S.
Another thing - I will suggest you make your slideshow random - then it will not always be the same image when shifting pages.

Thank you John S. but you didn't answer my question. The program (x5) won't let me have a "Level" type folder on the "menu" that I went to create. If I could use that everything you said above I wouldn't have to try and figure out. To me it's alot simplier to create a menu with everything that is on the templete menu, which includes "Level" type links, then go through all the stuff above. To me it's very simple, turn on the ability to allow "Level" folders/pages to be on a menu that I create for all pages that the main templete has been turned off.
Also, thanks for the suggestion to turn on "random" in the slideshow. However, that's the order that the squadrom used each of the aircraft. They've used 4 different aircraft since the squadron was created.
Jim
Sorry - I did then not understand.
I hope someone that know what is meant, can help with this.
Kind regards
John S.
James,
You are not a boughter, please feel free to nag me... :)
The main menu can have folders and pages in any order you wish.
A new menu can only be made from a folder option in the menu, not from a page.
If above does not help then please:
Create a prtscrn of the button that is greyed out.
and/or:
Explain what you would like to achieve because i am nut sure if i understand you correctly.
Thanks

I wrote 2 paragraphs and decided to delted them and just make the menu for those items that the program allow. If someone wants to go back to the "Aircraft" menu item or one of the other 4 they can go to the Home Page and go from there.
Thanks Andre E I really do appreciate all your help. I haven't made a website for more than a year and a half and I'm a little rusty. Hopelly I don't need any more assistance from you for a while.
Jim
No problem,
So for now it's solved in a different matter.
That's great.
if you need more information then please ask.
Best Regards,

Sorry, I thought I'd solved the problem but I didn't. When I create the menu on pages that I don't show the template, the "Level Folders" don't show the drop downs when I click on them. I have 5 of them in my site. I do see a blue line below each button but they won't open?
Check my piicture again.
a level object does nothing, just create a name in your menu. if you want it to go to a certain page for instance you need to set in the properties a link.
if you set it to a page and you don't want the page where you have made a level menlink to, to show in the menu , then hide the page with the button on top in step3.
Let me know if this helps, else make a screenshot.
Thanks.
Hello James
I will try to explain what it is I meant. You can see how I have made a level-object, and you can see how I use it under "functions" to have a level-obkect to show a "back" possibility. On the "back to functions" I have made link that directs to functions ( it shows the "features" page.
This is the property for "back to functions"
It is made in ver. 12 but exactly the same theory goes for v. 13 and v 14.
If this has nothing to do with what your post is about, then just forget it.
The "clips" is from the : http://calendarforum.dk/features.html
Kind regards
John S.
The "dummypage" is just for having the level-item to show up.
