Images disappeared for no reason

Hello,
I had to reupload all the files recently, and since then, some images on some pages (but not all) disappeared, even though they are still in the folder where they used to be. If I remove and then add the image again (from the same folder as before), it appears again and is showing again on the page too, and in the program as well.
Something similar happened to the main page(index) as well. Images didn't show up until this afternoon, but when I checked this evening, they appeared again and are displayed normally on the main page (although I didn't change anything).
Why could this be happening?

Laslo, could you please provide the URL (website address) so we can look?
It sounds like the browser simply needs the cache flushed (CTRL+F5) because it is referring to the old page before update. If in doubt, check your site with an alternative browser you seldom use.
