After installing version 2023.3.11, I was working in a project and went to "Save To Disk" and the system ran really slow,  It took 7 hours insteads of 5 minutes to save.  This project is 485 page and 2.5GB in size.  It then took another 7+ hours for the "Save Project to Disk".  I have over 100 different projects going to 3 websites

I have not received any system errors.

Also during this time ECHO Browser did an update which included AI components.  Now almost all programs fail to load or take forever (over 15 minutes).  About the only programs to load are Web browsers.

I am using an AlienWare computer with Windows 10 running an I-7 (6700) processor, 16 GB of Ram and over 1/2 of my storage is free across 4 drives.

I have tried a few cleaning programs and check sustem loads and all looks fine and within range.  I am thinking I'll have to do a Clean re-install of everything if I do not find the problem.

I am just a fat old grandpa who needs help.  I have a grandson who in knowlegable, it is just getting him here.  Maybe it is time for a new Computer?

Hello. I don't think you need a new computer. For more comfortable work, it is better to use SSD drives, but this is also not necessary.

First try disabling your antivirus, firewall and any other protection.

James, in the face of this slow down I would first ensure that I had a good (excellent) backup. Go to step 5 and export project to create an iwzip file for each project, never rely on the built in backup option.

If there are any empty cells on any pages in any projects, please either delete them or simply add an object to each cell (I just use a text object without content), the object can be one or many cells on a page. Empty cells severely impact the performance of WX5

If this slow down is affecting more than just WX5 you could run Disk Clean up which is built in to windows to remove unnecessary files (I recommend also selecting clean up system files), this can make a significant improvement to Windows performance.

Ran the tests, but did not seem to help much.  I have my grandson, who is in IT work helping me.  Ran a MEM Test  and a few others still no luck.  He thinks the RAM maybe failing.  Also File transfer rate is terrible, making me think the main FIXED Disk is failing or the drive controller.  I am continually waitng for things to load.  Is there a way to get a new Download of X-5 Evo to do a reinstall with.  That has help with another program the point that is loads and I can use it.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Click on the user name at the top right and select "My Profile". There you will find the WebSiteX5 program under "Download" and here you will also find the license key for the installation.

James, please download a new install from your profile as indicated by Daniel, but if your system is randomly unresponsive (even not in WX5) the problem may lay elsewhere. If your system is oldish and probably running mechanical hard drive/s, the problem is probably fragmentation and/or a worn HD.

I would create a command prompt (type CMD into search, right click on result and run as administrator), I would then run chkdsk c: /r You will probably be requested to allow chkdsk to run at next startup, please do so (be patient, if your HD is large it will take some time).

I found the SATA connector to my data drive hard over heated.  When I went to remove the drive for replacement with a new SSD, the connector fell off rendering the drive and cable useless.  I got the new drive installed along with a new cable.  I went to reinstall my data from backups and found the backup data was corrupted.  Luckily I had some Items saved on flash drives.  I also had "Projects" saved for reinstallation.  I still have lost a large amount of data.  Thanks for the helpful comments I received.
