I mean that after export from X5 I am uploading images and all to server. While each export is duplicating all images from the project it is a lot to upload. I am overwriting the images already on the server and copy the new ones.

I have checked a few images Eric, they are online there. The upload was ok. Why can't wee see them? Why can't access them from exported gallery? In teh X5 project everything looks fine. There is no over quota disk on the server.

And yes in preview I can see some thumbs but not a single one can't be enlarge on click.

So let's take it step by step. Images are inside gallery in the X5 project. In the exported files I can see them. All of those images generated by X5 export are uploaded. Some of them are online - I can't check them all because are almost 8.000 images.

So I asume that the other images are uploaded too. But in the online gallery we have missing thumbs and more we do not have a SINGLE large image when clicking on thumb. But the images are online.

Please tell me if I explained proper.

Well Daniel this is the reason I do NOT upgrade. Every version is unfinished and they leave problems passing to the new version. I am using now version 16 and I can see from your answer that they did not solve this and maybe other perpetual problems.
I am studying now to make photoalbum with jAlbum free. We need of course and external sitemap creator to include this images.

From your description seems to be the same problem: an image added to the gallery is missing online.

Well ... if others which I am searching for help encounter the same problems I suggest to use free jAlbum.

Coming back to see if Incomedia got some answers ... but of course not.

We must remember that PRO (Professional) may have some other meaning for Italians than it has for Danes, Swedes, Germans and other nationalities.

X5 PRO should be a tool for professionals. A professional is per definition a person that has a kind of income of what he is doing.

If you make things for a person or a firm, you probably use a tool. You have to use good tools you can rely on. If a tool is broken, then you have to have it fixed, so that you can make and maintain your product. You have to rely on, that your tool is operational and if you have a professional partner he will of course fix your tool if you pay him for servicing and maintaining the tool.

If he is a professional partner, then he has the capability to repair your tool, and he knows you have customers that cannot wait long before problems are fixed.

This is the professional attitude.

If you have a good friend that has made a tool for you for free, then you cannot expect that he is ready to help you when you have troubles with your tool. You could say that if a tool is freeware or made by a good friend it can't be considered as a professional tool - even if some good freeware has an outstanding and quick response if you report problems.

If X5 were freeware you could expect the service you get on this forum.

But X5 is not freeware, and it has some extra in the name: X5 PRO.

My post was just to point out, that there might be different views from country to country, what is the meaning of PRO (professional).

as you are using a version of WebSite X5 that is no longer supported, as it has been released several years ago, and you mentioned finding an alternate workaround with the external gallery tool, I no longer replied regarding this matter, as it seemed resolved through this solution.
If you can provide me with a copy of the project I can take a more in-depth look, but as you are currently using version 16 I can only offer limited support.

What are you telling me is that I can send you entire project to see where the problem is but you can look inside just a bit, to be limited support? Despite the fact I have posted the same problem of duplicate images in galleries since the version 16 was released and I have no answer still.

I have seen a few different people post about this image issue.  I have it with background images.  And looking at the config, X5 still has the image name and is configured, the image is just not showing.  I have had to rename the image and add it back with a new name to make my images work again.  Unfortunately I am not positive I do not have pages with this issue, my site is rather large.

Once again: the issue in about the images exported in duplicates. Of course that in the online gallery you can see just last image linked to text, gallery or whatever.
I have no access to the folders that store images online in yout example, like Images Gallery or Files. I can see just the images are linked NOW with the last export but I cant see the residual images which were linked in previous exported process and now are useless.

For more then 4 years this is what I write: duplicate images in gallery, duplicate content online.

But please delete ASAP the content there. We don t need it.

So you have entire project.

Export it all on local(!).

Make some minor modification in one page. Not changing gallery content but some text. Keep in mind what image was modificed in THAT page.

Export again and you wil see tons of duplicates are exported from other pages without touching those other pages.

After some changes I do export web structure. Firts I am overwriting the page I just have changed. When eaxmine this page in browser I can see missing images in galleries. F5 ctrl R and so on to proper refresh.

Using Total Commander I choose SKIPP ALL when uploading the images from galleries.

It should be upload no image because I just have modifyed the text only.

Despite of that I have many many images uploaded again. You can see this in exported files. Do yiu want to send an archive of MY exported files?

Second, please answer if you did succeed to create a valid gallery inside that page TEHNOLOGIE.html

yes, it was possible to create a Gallery on the page, I did not encounter issues with viewing the images in full screen mode.
Regarding the export, I have not noticed an unusual amount of images compared to what was expected, even after some changes in the page.
Depending on what exactly is edited, the files related to that page may actually be uploaded again, but this does not mean duplicated of the images in the gallery are being created in the relevant folder: the same files will be overwritten.

with the old questions we are walking on the same circle: same question and same answer but not he correct one while my problem is not solved. On first ocasion I will record some minor changes and then the export process with lot of duplicates.

when you encountered the Gallery issue, was the export done with Total Commander with the skip function for the uploads?

Regarding the other question: as I mentioned, a few images are duplicated because of an error, but most of the duplicates are there because those images are actually present in multiple parts of the project.
What is the amount of additional images you see in the relevant folder of the hosting space compared to before?
Please check the number of files before and after a change if possible, together with what change you made on what page.

Regardless, keep in mind that should this be a general issue with the software, rather than something due to a local factor (specific to the project or your computer), it will unfortunately not be possible to fix this as version 16 is no longer updated.

Yes indeed this is the issue I am talking about for several years. A version that was not complteted and clean solved before the release of the next version.

perhaps some of the files related to the full-screen versions were also skipped by Total Commander, I would recommend checking the galleries after exporting through WebSite X5 directly as well.

There is no reason for Total Commander to skip files. The issue is not about missing files but about excessive files in duplicates.

I have made a lot of tests. There is absolutly no reason to believe that the software behave different on different computers.

Indeed unchecking the make backup options limits the amount of images beeng exportet but all that files need to be uploaded again and again.

The only thing I can do is to F5 refresh very often just to see if my page online miss or not missing images. Then I stop upload of the Gallery folder.

The same disappointing review.

This is incredible. I have replaced 3 images in the gallery. I have to overwrite 460 Mb of images to make the 3 new ones visible. On not 460 Mb because they became visible after 90 Mb uploaded. The section is https://www.softedu.eu/desen-proiectii-sectiuni.html

The computer is brand new also the OS and everything is fresh installed updates and so on.

Do something for old versions that were released with missing functionality!

Eric, Lisa takes things apart, but the users have the feeling that issues are cor-related. So, the in development marking of pages created a bigger issue at my end then the first problem, since the last update of software the project safes only in a reliable fashion after an upload, not with using preview without upload, not by using the safe icon. Crashes, or give errors after reopening, have to fall back to back-up, hours waste in creating new files. 

And we notice simular problems as Marius describe, it is not only the images that requires huge render power, and thus increases risk for error. When I just correct a wrong pricing on 1 page, 125 instead of 115 euro, on the page, so not in code, just plain text, I preview and upload: All 390 pages of the project! Cause 1 little change of pricing, we have to check if all pages are uploaded correctly again, and again, and again.

So now, I have to live with the fact that around 150 pages are a mess when I upload now, since I have to surrender and accept that I do need to upload the project to clean the registers, and update pages 1 by 1. While is have to place the same objects on the 150 pages, I can not take an object and copy paste 150 times, and work my way to a point that all pages are ready to upload, I have to complete one page picking objects 1 by 1, time absorbing, and with each upload we know, we have to check all pages. So the last is a constant job, untill I am done, and know what: the project is never done.

The fact that that we are running circles is not new, the crashing while saving the project is. And the only thing that seems to work well (without crashes) is uploading. 

The image issue is a sympton, like there are more connected to the source.

What kind of PC are you using Eric? I really want to know, so that we are at equal level and take things from there.

And the solution remains: edit max 10 pages, safe, and restart. And what I mean with solutions means: work with the limitations and progress, slow but steady...

Raoul, this is not working for me: I have edited one page but you can see in the attach above the mess created.

Happy Easter everybody: I see Marius. Perhaps you can try this, or better said, make sure you back up project before you do it as well. I hope I am not going to regret what I just have done. I have deleted all files that were labeled as un-linked info, solved a small matter with the sticky bar, and currently previewing the project. In the hope I see improvement in performance.

Other thing I was thinking about, is exporting the project, with all boxes ticked, using all filters the software offers, and import the full project as a new project. 

and this worries me, when I removed the unlinked info and sources, why then takes a preview ages? What is there to render when it was unlinked? Man-o-man.

waiting for the crash to be confirmed: that is one of the issues. When you try to fix things as a user, in the way the software suggests you to look for solutions, things get worse. Does not matter if you apply the label in development to a page, or fixing issues (that were not an issue in SEO or user experience), cleaning registers. Still I think it is something in the project, that the software cannot fix. The primate version of my project is from I think 2016 or something. And Marius project is also not the smallest Eric, and that is an understatement. And it is clear that there is a lot of commitment to get things done, but the team has to do the deep diving in these matters. Still waiting for the preview to be rendered.

and than the preview rendered, closed and reopened project, and than I am looking at a screen saying: creating project files, and my worry starts again. Again: I removed un-linked files, what has to be created? And the worry starts, will all (picture) files be in the same shape and form as I last saw and left them.... aside the time this takes, it is the worry the messaging creates....

but again, no crash yet, patience is another key thing in this :)

perhaps not a crash according to task manager, but it is one when my spine hurts whilst being hours improductive, Happy Easter for now, and I am away for 10 days, trust I am able to catch up by then : )

I really feel for you guys, as I have never had issues like this and have used the software since version 8. My previews are quick and (so far) I haven't had issues with images. 

However, the difference for me is maybe that I am not working with projects that were originally started 10 years (or more) ago. All my current sites were made (or redone) in the last 4 years or so. I even used Magicsite to recreate my wife's counselling webpage and did a cut and paste from that into the existing site with no issues.

My current hardware is around 3-4 years old and is midrange at best. Windows 11 (updated from 10). Do either of you use OneDrive? I don't use it, as I know there have been problems with synching files in the past. I also do regular IWZIP backups of my sites and store them on a NAS to avoid potential loss. I never upgrade to the laatest version of X5 until I have looked at this forum to see what issues might arise.

So, I can't help with the solution other than to suggest that you look at the original versions of problematic projects and see when they were first made. Some hosting companies don't offer the PHP versions that older software needs or they drop older versions as newer ones are implemented. What versions do your projects use? Could this be part of the problem?

crtl alt delete after 4 hours.....

I did the hard reset whilst task manager showed there were no new files created, and surprise surprise, the project opened and sticky bar corrected and the unlinked files are removed. Was able to increase work load, and safe project again.

Marius, I would give it a try. I have the feeling this is the path for you as well. And looking at your project, I would take it one step further, export the files with the use of all filters, and import as new project. 

I do nota inderstand Raoul the task manager solution ... 

sometimes the system does not want to close the proces of saving or previewing the project. The task manager shows when and if the software is creating new files, using MB. If not, the process is done, but the software simply does not close the process, a control alt delete might be the thing to do. You have to do it anyways at some point, but wait and be patience. After hard reboot the when opening the project it asks  something like, project closed improperly, are you sure to want to open it: and just say yes. Again, frequent back-up the project by creating duplicates.

I understand, Raoul. I am afraid that the program is badly structured and this is the cause. This solution don't work for me ...
