The Shopping cart returns an order number to the customer before they pay. This is a problem. The system should not do that since he may never pay at all or his payment method may fail. Is Website X5 waiting for a signal back from PayPal confirming that the payment went through or not?
I believe Incomedia already knows it needs to fix the Sales Tax issue for Americansor the shopping cart will not be useful. But this issue that I have rasied above is also an issue that we need Incomedia to address.
Thanks

Hi Bob,
This cart problem has been an annoyance to me for quite some time, with one or two people having to be reminded to pay – the payment link button also appears on the confirmation email they are sent.
Incomedia really need to modify the cart setup so it gives the user more flexablility to change the carts working to suit the layout and order process expected in various countries. Upgrading to pro gave me some of the things I required in the cart but I would still like to have the ability to change a few more fixed things with the operation of cart.
I partially solved the first problem you have experienced on my sites by changing the standard script shown to one stating that the order had been recorded but would not be fulfilled until the payment was made using the 'Buy Now' button to make a secure payment.
You can change the cart page and mail script by clicking the small button at ‘Step one’, ‘General Settings’ that is to the right of ‘Content Language’ selection.
I changed the script of the ID content ‘the cart_step4_descr’ to:
Your order has been recorded and will be processed as soon as possible after your payment has been received.<br /><br />Please click on the buy now button to pay for the order.<br /><br /> A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you with all the data entered as well as shipment and payment details.<br /><br />In order to track your order, please note your Order Number:
Since making this change to the wording I have not had anyone skipping the payment step.
I am not sure about the American Sales Tax problem but the tax name shown can be changed in a similar way to the above, don't know if this is much help to you though. Our US sales are fairly small and we generaly don't bother with the local sales tax problem - we tend to use the Chinese 'gift' declaration method (and hope for the best) for ease of shipping...
Best Regards,
Mark.

Thanks Mark, that was very helpful.
I currently have a commercial grade shopping cart system on my main website which ius very powerful for shipping, tax, payment, etc. I was hoping to use a simpler one as part of a new site that I am creating with Website X5 (which I really enjoy using). But I think until Incomedia improves their cart, I will stay with my other shopping cart system.
I would like to know the official Website X5 position on their shopping cart issues. After all, we have all purchased the Website X5 products having heard that they have included a powerful shopping cart system (in the Pro version) but it is anything but powerful. It will never work for USA based customers "as is." It needs: (1) Sales Tax capabilities for all 50 states, (2) FedEx, UPS, and USPS rate database integration, and (3) a real-time secure payment system which cannot be defeated by the customer and which meets US credit card standards.
Thanks
Bob
