I am having trouble installing Polls app purchased from Incomedia  en

On the Polls App you must create a Table on your server which I did. But I only get a swirling Hour glass symbol and nothing happens. Must I design the exact number of columns in the database Table for this App to work?

I created a folder on the server for the programn to stoe data. What should the properties of that folder be (777 or some other number)?

Help

the folder should have 777 rights

you don't need to build a database table. Just create a databse and set password, login and name in x5 in step4.

But X5 asks for a table name and if you omit it, it doesn't proceed. I will try what you mentioned though. Thanks

Hello Robert,

You need to enter the name of the table where the data will be saved. Enter a name which hasn't been used so the program will create then this table and use it to store the data.

Many thanks!

What permissions do I need to apply to the folder that will hold the file that X5 creates?

Please give me the 3 numbers for the proper permissions setting.

I still get the rotating hourglass error and nothing happens.  Could be the permissions setting I suppose.

What else can I be doing that is incorrect?

Thanks

Bob

This is not an issue with the chmod permission of a folder. The poll uses the database.

( The guestbook for example uses the datafolder with chmod 777 rights ) but not the poll object.

There is something wrong with the database.

You need to create a (new) database in your admin panel from your hosting company. You will get or have to give a name, password and a database name. No more then that.

fill them in together with a correct adress, most providers use just -localhost- but some an adress.  And then poll should work.

OK thanks . All set. I deleted the Poll App from the site and re-inserted it and it worked.
